Since 1988, May has been recognized as National Foster Care Month—a time to raise awareness around issues related to foster care and acknowledge the families and community members working to love and support those who are impacted.
Each year, we encourage churches to pause, reflect on God’s heart for children and families experiencing vulnerability, and recognize that as long as these needs exist, the church must play a role in the solution.
This May, Fostering Hope and our partners are coordinating opportunities to learn about ways the church can come alongside the foster care community. As you invite your church to consider how they can support children and families impacted by foster care, please share any of these events that would be meaningful to your congregation.
“In the end, we may find that some of the most sacred spaces of worship are not the seats of the sanctuary, but the hard and broken places where vulnerability and oppression are met with a fullness and hope that only the Church can offer.”
- Jason Johnson

"I could be sitting on the sidelines, in blissful ignorance of the brokenness that surrounds me, enjoying the whole-ness of a sweet and sheltered life. Missing out on the beauty of breaking off pieces of my heart and my life to make another whole."
